Qualification Criteria
Medicare’s disease specific admission criteria determine eligibility. The following symptoms may be signs that an individual may qualify for hospice services:
- Increased assistance needed with ADL’s
- Dysphasia with recurrent aspiration
- General cognitive decline
- Failure to recover from recent illness
- Unexplained weight loss
- Decreased response to treatments
- Overall negative change in condition
- Increased hospitalizations or emergency room visits
